Candidate for GLA constituency of Ealing/Hillingdon, 2016 GLA elections
Personal statement from Meena Hans:
"I have been an active member of Ealing Green Party since 2010, during which time I stood twice in the local council elections, in the wards of Norwood Green and Ealing Broadway and earlier this year stood as the Green Parliamentary candidate for Ealing North. The experience I gained during the parliamentary campaign will make me a much stronger candidate for the London Assembly as I know what to expect and have learnt much from the experience of speaking at hustings.
I have lived in London for most of my life and am a Londoner through and through. I love London and love living here. Therefore, I believe I would be the perfect candidate to represent the views of other Londoners with passion. I know that London can be so much better than it has become in recent years, with cleaner air, cleaner streets, more truly affordable housing for locals, developed by utilising existing rundown buildings as opposed to building on open spaces, better schools, a more reliable, safer and cheaper transport system and London certainly doesn’t need a third runway. I also support the campaign to recognise London as a garden city which may eventually help to reduce the number of green spaces that are being given away to developers.
Should I be chosen as the candidate for Ealing & Hillingdon and consequently to be elected as the London Assembly member for this constituency, I would do my very best to raise all of these issues and endeavour to help make London an even better place to live and raise our families which as a mother and a grandmother I can speak on with empathy and understanding.
If you choose to support me, I will be the Green voice of our constituency and Green views will be represented passionately."
